A moment of exchange and frank dialogue. This was the second edition of the Albras and Communities Panel, held at the Noble Hall of Cabana Clube, on December 7th. The presentation was led by Eduardo Bustamante, Manager of Dialogue & Engagement at Albras and Hydro. More than 70 guests, including representatives of communities, civil society organizations (CSOs), unions, and public agencies, attended the presentation of the results of social investments, sponsorships, human resources actions, and corporate volunteering.

The host of the meeting, Albras' president João Menezes, emphasized the company's commitment to having a prosperous relationship and an operation that makes sense for the communities. The executive presented the advancements in 2023, recalled the step-by-step process of aluminum production, and listed the initiatives promoted through the Hydro Sustainability Fund (FSH), of which Albras is a maintainer in conjunction with Hydro, as well as sponsorships and volunteering initiatives. The Senior HR Manager, Rubens Souza, presented the human resources programs, such as the Infinite Talent and the Women Operational Program (WOP), and the numbers on Pará in Albras' workforce, with 87.20% of people from Pará in a team of almost 1,400 people, about 80% of whom are employees from the cities of Barcarena, Belém, and Abaetetuba.

The Socio-Environmental Initiatives and Programs and the sponsorship of Tomorrow's Gastronomy, as well as the HSF initiatives like the Memories of Barcarena and the Sustainable Connections platform, with 22 projects financed totaling BRL 3.6 million, were highlighted in the speech by the Senior Manager of Socio-Environmental Programs, Higia Brandão.

Volunteers stir emotions

The Albras Volunteer Committee also presented its results and was responsible for the emotional moment of the evening. Volunteer Rosiane Gonçalves was moved to tears recalling her work at the Farm of Hope in Abaetetuba. The cultural showcase featured a carimbó performance by the Arirambas and Botos group, from the quilombo remnant community of Gibrié São Lourenço, in Barcarena.

The question-and-answer session was personally conducted by President João Menezes, so that the community could hear directly from Albras' leadership on the discussed topics: it was an opportunity to respond and provide more information about Albras' energy matrix change, recruitment of women and trans people, minimum education and required courses, recruitment source locations, and clarify doubts about the Operational Program for Women and Infinite Talent.

As a final reflection, it was important to review the year's achievements and validate with the present community that “Albras makes sense not only for the more than 3,000 own and contracted employees, we could see that the company also makes sense for the community,” said João Menezes. On this occasion, the president reinforced the invitation to the entire community to participate in the company's planned visit program in 2024."
