Created with the goal of generating opportunities to break the paradigm that the industrial area is not a place for women, Hydro's Women's Operational Program (WOP) aims to engage, train, and develop individuals for work in the industrial sector. After training over 80 women in the municipality of Barcarena in 2022, it was Paragominas' turn, where 45 students received their certificates in December for Electrician and Industrial Maintenance Mechanic courses.

"In the field of mechanics today, women do not act much. So, this course was extremely important for us to add knowledge and seek opportunities. Women today can do anything they want, and we cannot stop: we have to continue seeking this insertion and learning," shares Denise Silva, one of the graduates of the Industrial Maintenance Mechanics course.

This program is conducted in partnership with Senai in Paragominas. All the graduates will have the opportunity to participate in recruitment through a selection process to work at Hydro Paragominas. "Besides Hydro, other companies need this workforce, so our intention was to train these women so that these companies can also absorb these professionals, contributing to sustainability in society. As for Hydro, the global goal of the company is to raise the number of women in its units from 19% to 25% by 2025," points out Adriana Prazeres, senior Human Resources manager at Hydro Paragominas.

To receive the nationally valid certificate, the students attended classes for three months at Senai in Paragominas, with both theoretical and practical lessons. In the end, they also received additional training provided by Hydro, covering various behavioral and social issues related to the workplace and career.

"Senai, as a professional training institution, understands that it is very significant to train the female public, who increasingly find opportunities in the industry to be inserted in areas that were previously predominantly male. We are very happy with this opportunity to direct knowledge to these women so they can achieve more and more new objectives in the job market," comments Antonilson Conceição, director of Senai Paragominas.

For student Ana Paula Brito, the experience of taking the course was challenging. "I am a mother, wife, and already working. I had to reinvent myself to fit study into my routine. And this course radically changed my life, it came to add even more, to qualify me, to give me a new opportunity, a new learning and who knows, to generate a new career in a new area," she concludes.
