On the morning of this Wednesday, the 24th, Hydro Alunorte will carry out a practical external simulation of an emergency situation in Barcarena/PA with residents of the communities Jardim Cabano, Bom Futuro and Comunidade Remanescente de Quilombo Sítio São João.

Approximately 135 people from the communities are expected to participate in the initiative that will simulate a hypothetical scenario of rupture of a containment basin at Solid Residue Deposit 1 (DRS1), requiring preventive evacuation from the Self-Rescue Zone (ZAS). In the action, residents participating in this simulation will be informed by the Community Brigade about the supposed emergency and will be taken to a safe place, called the Meeting Point. There is a Meeting Point in each of the communities.

The simulation is a controlled and planned periodic activity, which aims to test emergency response actions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

The activity will be accompanied by representatives from emergency response bodies in the municipality of Barcarena and the State, such as Civil Defense, Fire Department, Military Police and environmental and social bodies, in addition to the community itself.

Alunorte uses the most modern technology in the world for dry disposal of residue, offering robustness and safety to deposits and simulated exercises like these are carried out to meet legal requirements. It is important to emphasize that the deposits are stable, intact and safe, and duly licensed by all competent environmental bodies.
