The Federal and State Public Prosecutors (MP) and the State Secretariat for Environment and Sustainability of Pará (SEMAS) approved the hiring of the company Walm Engenharia e Tecnologia Ambiental Ltda. to conduct an audit related to Environmental Studies in Barcarena (PA). This independent audit corresponds to item 2.1.1.BDEF of the Term of Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC) signed by the MP, SEMAS, the State Government, and the companies Hydro and Alunorte.

The audit will be responsible for conducting an environmental investigation to clarify aspects related to the 2018 event. The execution of this audit will be carried out in accordance with the approved terms of reference by the signatory parties. The contract has been signed, and the auditing company is mobilizing to begin work. The auditing company has 12 months to conduct the studies and present the results, which will be published.

Walm Engenharia e Tecnologia Ambiental Ltda. is a Brazilian company providing services and projects in the fields of Environmental and Sanitary Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Water Resources. Based in São Paulo, it has been operating since 1992 and is recognized in the market for its development of environmental, geotechnical, and water resources studies and projects, supporting the development of relevant projects from a sustainability perspective.

All auditing activities have been carefully structured collaboratively, involving SEMAS and Public Prosecutors. By starting the auditing process of Alunorte's Environmental Study, the company is fulfilling another commitment of the TAC.

About the TAC
The Term of Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC) was signed to deepen the understanding regarding the main issues and doubts of the local society regarding the heavy rains that occurred in February 2018, in the municipality of Barcarena (PA), as well as to conduct audits in Alunorte's operations. By signing the TAC in September of that same year, Hydro and Alunorte maintain a cooperative stance, ensuring socio-environmental quality in the region, including the implementation of evaluative actions, studies, and improvements in the refinery's operational process, among other measures.
